Manifestations results from an approach that privileges the creative process, presenting four scenes that each reveal one of the current members of the collective in an aestheticized staging of their everyday life. This work questions the links between performativity and art, while also engaging in radical vulnerability and catharsis. This project was born in February 2021, while the collective was in an artist residency at Salon58 (Marsoui, Gaspésie). At the time, the collective’s members explored notions of care and interpersonal conflict, and how they are linked to artmaking and friendship. It is throughout this emotionally dense residency that the group engaged in multiple writing sessions and periods of discussion, crafting a space for listening and validation that lay the grounds for this project. The writings emerging from this creative process contribute to the structure of Manifestations, which questions notions of individuality and collectivity in the specific context of de/constructing a queer rural identity.
Biographie
Collectif l’indiscipline is initially a mutable anarcho queer and feminist group of friends inspired by having an intersectional approach towards oppression. The collective brings together multidisciplinary artists that mostly work in Eastern so-called Quebec. L’indiscipline was created in 2018 as a result of an impulse of its members – a need to make their lives visible and valid, to take up the space that is theirs, to gather and celebrate, instigating a collective culture of care by creating artistic spaces that are anti-oppressive and non-institutional.

TENDERNESS! GATHERING TO BREAK ISOLATION
9 days of free artistic activities
May 7 - 15, 2022
How can art highlight our interdependencies?
Through which means can we actively be together?
What energies can we harness to open sharing spaces?
Through the interim of several activities, Tenderness! explores the many spheres of isolation - social, geographical and artistic - that shape our way of being, interacting and caring for each other. By rejecting universalities that tend to blur inequities, Tenderness! instead affirms that it is in the sum of our singularities, in the expansion of our particularities, that a commonplace can be constructed.
Fondé en 2003 à Rimouski.
